Upskilling100 Luminaries Gala Night 2024

On 2 Aug 2024, FirstCom Academy held its inaugural Upskilling 100 Luminaries Gala Night at Toa Payoh Safra. This gala night was more than just a glamorous event for the guests; it was a commemoration and celebration of their remarkable successes.

In today’s dynamic and ever-changing job market, competing for preferable career opportunities can be an uphill battle.

But not for these 100 Luminaries.
They successfully navigated the challenges by equipping themselves with necessary skills that allowed them to rise above their competition. In doing so, they managed to achieve tangible outcomes and transform their careers by elevating their professional value.

Our CEO Jim Giam presented the opening speech to welcome the attendees.
Upskilling 100 Luminaries

FirstCom Academy invited 100 Luminaries to share their stories as part of the Upskilling 100 Success Stories Initiative 2024-25. This group of Luminaries is a testament to the fact that upgrading your skills can indeed lead to better career opportunities.

Our CEO, Jim Giam, began the event with his opening speech that welcomed all attendees and commend the Luminaries for displaying unwavering commitment by investing their time into developing their professional skills. He hopes that the stories of these Luminaries will serve as an inspiration for Singaporeans that are looking to upskill for a better future.

The 100 selected Luminaries were honoured at the event with an award to acknowledge the effort they had put in. All of them experienced positive and tangible outcomes shortly after upskilling by attending our programmes which were thoughtfully curated based on the Workforce Skills Qualifications (WSQ) framework.

Our General Manager Lynn Wong presented the Luminary Awards to our esteemed learners.
Thanking the Tip-top Trainers

Another group of people that received recognition that night were the amazing trainers that made it possible for the Luminaries to successfully acquire new skills. These trainers all possess years of in-depth training and industry knowledge. Their contribution and expertise were invaluable to the Luminaries that underwent their training.

As a recognition for their efforts, they were awarded with the Empowerment Excellence Award. For the trainers who have displayed an exemplary level of professionalism, dedication and quality, they were commended with the Top Trainer Award for their outstanding performance in the first half of 2024. The recipients of this award were determined by their TRAQOM ratings.

The Training Quality and Outcomes Measurement (TRAQOM) is a system developed by SkillsFuture Singapore to evaluate the quality of training programmes and courses. It assesses various aspects such as content relevancy, delivery effectiveness, and overall satisfaction of the participants.

Lucky, Lucky, Luminaries

To ramp up the levels of excitement, there was a lucky draw with prizes worth over $3000 for attendees to participate in! The prizes to be won included Takashimaya shopping vouchers, Samsung Galaxy Buds, Dyson Cool Fan and the grand prize was the Dyson V12 Detect Slim Fluffy vacuum cleaner worth over $900! That injected a sense of eagerness in everyone as they attentively listened, waiting for the emcee to call out their names as a winner. A huge congratulations to all our lucky draw winners!

And if that wasn’t enough, we had a fun game segment where attendees were split into 2 teams to compete for even more prizes. Participants all had their eyes on the prize as their enthusiasm exuded and filled the entire event hall. It was an impressive sight to behold as all attendees competed to win for their respective teams.

But the best part of this segment? There was something for everyone to bring home because here at FirstCom Academy, we make sure everyone walks away a winner in life.

Our participants engaged, networked and enjoyed the eventful night.

As the Upskilling 100 Luminaries Gala Night came to an end, attendees were busy taking photos of this celebration. We also had photo booths set up for attendees to capture the memorable event with their newly made friends.
